Solid and strong, with unrivalled visibility even at great depths and a uniquely distinctive appearance
Inspired by the historic Luminor 1950 case, the Luminor case was the first Panerai watch developed for the civilian public.
The Luminor Due collection is a new chapter in the history of Panerai.
The first watch designed by Panerai as a prototype in 1936 at the request of the Royal Italian Navy.
Founded in 1860, Panerai watches are renowned all over the globe for their Italian design and technical excellence. Created to be used at extreme depths, clear legibility and luminosity in the dark are two of the defining features of Panerai watches. Carefully crafted, men’s Panerai watches evoke a true sense of style and sophistication. With all the technical prowess you could desire, Panerai are the leading watchmakers for deep-sea diving.
The tale of these timepieces began when Giovanni Panerai opened his first shop in 1860 at “Ponte alle Grazie” in Florence. It also operated as a workshop and the first watchmaking school in the famous city. After using various locations across Florence from 1876, the shop moved to its current location in the Archbishop's Palace in front of the Florence Cathedral in the 1920s. It was at this time that Panerai christened his new workshop "OROLOGERIA SVIZZERA", a name that has been the umbrella for high-quality watches in Florence for over a century.
The brand's innovation came to the fore when Guido Panerai developed Radiomir from radium-based powder in 1916 to meet the needs of the Italian Royal Navy, for which the family supplied precision timekeeping instruments. The self-luminous compound was patented, and this immediately became a key element in Panerai watches. Now designing state-of-the-art timepieces for lovers of adventure, we have seen Panerai partnered with some high-profile names. These include travel influencer and environmentalist Jeremy Jauncey, Olympic gold medallist swimmer Gregorio Paltrinieri, and French free-diving world champion Guillaume Néry.
